Now in Full Swing
Dear Athletes and Friends:
We've just finished the second weekend of the 2013 Bay Area Senior Games. Badminton, Triathlon, and Track and Field are now complete and results are posted at www.bayareaseniorgames.org. Find results on the results tab for 2013 results (left side of home page) and also under each individual sport. (go to home page, sport, icon for sport and results).
We have had some great performances – from age 50 - 98 and the weather has been spectacular and all the athletes have really enjoyed themselves.
We are looking forward to Bocce, Volleyball and Feats of Strength this week.
On-line registration closes on Wed. May 8 at 5pm for Swimming, Water Polo, Soccer, Rugby, Basketball, Table Tennis, Archery, Cycling and Golf. All of these sports are conducted on what we are calling "the big weekend"!
To date we have over 1,250 athletes registered.
Please join me in thanking our sponsors Humana, Blue Shield of California, Whole Foods, Sports Basement, City of Palo Alto and Stanford Athletics plus all the terrific volunteers who keep the Games running.
And, once again, I'm including the Athlete's Oath, which guides us all in competition.
In the spirit of the Olympic Ideal, I pledge:
To abide by the rules of these Games,
To respect the officials that apply them,
To be humble in Victory and Gracious in Defeat,
I am proud to be a Senior Games Athlete.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in May... and I am predicting a dry, sunny field of play!
See you at the Games! We are so happy to have great weather!
