Open Rules team bocce is the style of recreational sport commonly played at facilities and parks throughout the United States. The sport will be played under the rules set forth by the United States Bocce Federation (USBF). This includes and open back wall and shooting from behind the B Line which is used for lagging.

Due to court availability and potential inclement weather the number of participating teams is limited to 16 for each age group except 80+, which is limited to 4 teams. Players may participate in both PRV and Open Team events. Up to two alternate players may be listed on an Open Rules team roster. Registration and sport fees apply to alternate players. Teams may be comprised of players from multiple age groups, in which case they will be placed in the division of the youngest player on the team. Teams can also elect to play in any age group lower than the youngest player on the team.
