In recognition of this inaugural week, we have scheduled activities, Zoom calls for all, and sports clinics in California. There are also Proclamations from the State of California, the City of Palo Alto, the City of Visalia, and San Diego elected officials stressing the importance of exercise, lifelong fitness and commitment to sport!

It is FREE, on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:00 and will include a Q&A with local swimming Olympians! MUST rsvp, to: hmendel@basoc.org. See news page for more details.
In addition, the Palo Alto Pickleball Club and the Bay Area Senior Games are hosting an “All about Pickleball for Seniors” clinic, on Thursday, March 21, at Mitchell Park Pickleball Courts, 3700 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto 11:00 – 12:30. RSVP to acribbs@basoc.org
Sunday, March 24, Bay Area Senior Games Swim Meet will be the first of 10 sports competitions in the 2024 Bay Area Senior Games from March 24 – June 9. As we love to say, 'competition never grows old'.
2024 will be a year full of sport, competition and friendship. Games organizers are excited about sports in 2024 – it is a qualifying year for the 2025 Summer National Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa.
NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES QUALIFYING EVENTS IMPORTANT INFORMATION
To be eligible to compete at the next National Senior Games (2025 in Des Moines, Iowa) athletes must qualify at a state-designated qualifying competition. California will be hosting two qualifying competitions for each sport, one in Northern California, one in Southern California. These Qualifying Competitions will take place at four different Games: Bay Area Senior Games and Encore Games in Northern California and Pasadena Senior Games and San Diego Senior Games in Southern California. See below for which Games will host the qualifiers for which sport.
Please note that because a sport is offered at one of these four Games, it is not necessarily the designated qualifying competition. Please check for verification when registering if your aim is to qualify for National Senior Games.
The following are “Open” sports at National Senior Games (no qualification necessary)
Cornhole, Disc Golf, Power Walk, Powerlifting, Soccer, Tai Chi.
Each Games may also be offering sports in addition to those contested at National Senior Games (such as Water Polo, Fitness Challenge and Paddleboard). Please check each individual Games information for a full list of sports offered.
A summary of sports, venues and designated qualifying events are listed here, and also be available at the following web sites:
